MYARDS Co., Ltd. was reborn in 1997 (Heisei 9) when the late founder’s company, Nishio Kikaku, was taken over by his son, Nao Nishio, and his daughter, Katsumi Kudo, who then changed the company name.

There are several theories about the origin of the name. According to the son (Nishio), it was inspired by the name of a beautiful island in the Mediterranean Sea that the late founder once visited. On the other hand, the daughter (Kudo) explained that it was a coined word derived from “My Yard.” Moreover, a long-time business partner, knowing the founder’s fondness for alcohol, assumed that the name must have come from a famous brand of rum.

In any case, each interpretation reflects the desire to create a space where people can relax as if entrusting themselves to it, a place that feels open and refreshing, intimate and trustworthy, where one would want to share secrets with others. Ultimately, however, we hope that our clients and the end users who visit the facilities and spaces we design will be the ones to sense the true meaning of MYARDS through the places we create.

In 2016, we established a branch office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
